Today, September 11th. 2014, was the National Day of Catalonia. This year Catalonia was commemorating 300 years of the defeatment of the Catalan Army defeated by the Borbon Spanish Army. After three consecutive years of succesful popular demonstrations the Spanish Governement continues denying the right to vote of the Catalan People for or against the independence of the Spanish Governement.
Upon the data of the Barcelona Metropolitan Police more than 1.800.00 persons, almost 30% of the Catalonian population, has demonstrated his protest and demostration to claim the democratic right to vote, without any incident.
I show here some pictures of today demonstration, consisting to make a big “V” meaning “vote and victory”. In front to the eyes of the World, and comparing this process with the Scottish one, everyone can have his own opinion about which one is the ridicoulous position. The one from the Spanish Governement or the one from the Catalan Nation simply claiming the right to vote. I can only say, modestly, I’m proud to have the privilege to be Catalan and indiffirent if others don’t consider what I’m. Our history proves what I say.

Lluis- I agree with your comments regarding the right to vote by Catalan people for their separate State or secession from Spain. Such a large number of people in such a large region of the country should have decision making power. Wealthier regions of the country cannot support poorer regions too long or forever. As in America- the wealthy people cannot support the poor without real consequences. Class warfare is not good. Other wise – conflicts such as civil wars or outbreaks of violence (like in Syria or Iraq – with religious components) can take place if this goes on for too many years. Your images show that there is serious support for recognition for Catalonia. Good work! Best, Stasys Petravicius

I’m glad to hear from you, thank you for your comment, I don’t what will happen but at least we shall have the right to vote. The Spanish Governement is ridicoulous, they are showing a high degree of stupidity. I hope your wife Irene is well, all my greetings to you both hopping meet you again in Barcelona.
